Cultural and Creative Design
We used to study in Tainan, which is the most ancient city in Taiwan. It consists of gorgeous historical monuments, varieties of traditional Taiwanese desserts, and sophisticated elders. These elements inspired us to come up with the idea that conveyed the elegance of localization through design.
Black Sugar Bun
As Tainan is the culinary center of Taiwan, it is no surprise that one of Taiwan's most beloved desserts – black sugar bun, is perfectly executed in Tainan. It features dough swelling and black sugar inside the hollow body. This dessert is literally as essential to Tainan food culture as Bruce Lee is to Chinese Kung Fu.
Insight of this classical dessert
Behind its attractive and tasty appearance, this dessert has a story. In ancient times, there was a saying that "eating three buns is the same as eating one sesame oil chicken." Our ancestors believed that black sugar was beneficial for women's health after giving birth. We utilized this metaphor as our central idea of design. After the iterative design process, we carried out the adorable hand warmer.
